Wlan-Box 3

Swisscom

From white boxes to warm objects

Once more we worked together with Swisscom to create a new product family channeling the main goal of transforming an unemotional acquiesce object into a warm product with character. Not only targeting trusted customers, but also addressing a new younger customer segment.

Pleasing technology

We believe that there is a higher need for designed objects in everyday life situations and a growing demand for aesthetically pleasing technology products.

In the design process, we recognized the problem of technology not being integrating well into home environments, often leading to acceptance of unattractive objects or attempts to hide them. Solving this problem by creating the a new product family, starting with the Wlan Box 3, which blends seamlessly into its surroundings, conveying a warm and soft feeling to the customer without compromising the performance.

New values new shape

Modernizing a product segment can always bring its challenges. With the new product family Swisscom wanted to address a younger customer segment without loosing the trust of their loyal clients. Balancing the need for modernity with the well-known quality of their products was crucial in creating a design that appeals to both groups without compromising usability or performance.

Leveling aesthetics and environmental consciousness

Sustainability was a key concern throughout the entire design and production process. Using not only post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR) but also reusing tools during production and the aspiration to design the housing for optimal refurbishment. By doing so, we aimed to reduce waste and minimize the environmental impact of the products.

The challenge was to maintain the quality and aesthetics of the design while incorporating these sustainable practices to ensure the product was both visually appealing and environmentally conscious.
